How Do I…?
Get a Library Card:
Library cards are provided free of charge to all residents of our district, as part of your tax-supported library services. Your card gives you borrowing privileges here and at most public libraries in Illinois, access to special online resources, and more.
If you live in our service area, you may get a library card free of charge, as part of your tax-supported library service.
Your library card allows you to:
- Borrow books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and video games from us.
- Borrow materials from other libraries across the Quad-Cities and in surrounding areas.
- Use special online collections to find magazine articles and information you can’t get just by searching the web.
To get a library card, simply come to the library and tell us you would like to get a card. You will have to bring along a photo ID and proof of your current East Moline address.
To renew books and other items, you have three options available for your convenience.
Option 1: Bring the items to the front desk in the library during our business hours.
Option 2: Renew the items online. You can access your account information from the PrairieCat Catalog and follow the instructions given under the renew my materials page.
Option 3: Renew the items on the phone by calling 1-888-542-7259 and following the directions as given. Please be sure to have your library card and items you wish to renew at hand.
Option 4: You can also call the library (309-755-9614) and talk to a staff member. Please have your library card # ready so we can put it into the computer. If you do not have your library card, you will need to verify information in order for us to know who you are.
If your card is from ANY OTHER LIBRARY in the area, Rivershare Online library will be the only one available to you, http://rivershare.lib.overdrive.com
Below are some PDF attachments that inform you how to get the library E-books on your eReader device:
Request InterLibrary Loan items:
If the item you are looking for is not available at any of the Quad City libraries that we associate with, and you are an East Moline patron, the library has a free service to request items from libraries across the globe.
You must have an East Moline Public Library card to request items out of system here at EMPL. For questions and comments, you can call 309-755-9614 and ask for Mary or Tami, or email email@example.com.
Photocopy or Fax:
A black and white copier is available for public use by the front door for 10¢ per printed page side. Color copying is not available.
Faxes can be sent or received on our fax machine. Cost is $1.00 per page and an additional $1.00 charge for dialing long distance numbers. To send or receive a fax, ask at the circulation desk.
