The East Moline Public Library is an awesome place for you to find books, magazines, movies, and CDs. We’ve got a YA room full of books just for YOU and a large collection of anime DVDs and manga available for checkout. We are always buying new books, movies, video games, manga, and other materials, so if there’s something you want us to get – tell us! Teen Library Council (TLC) – Friday, February 7 | 4-6 PM Join us as we plan upcoming teen programs, play fun games and have a chance to win cool prizes! TLC is great way to meet new people and get involved in the library. TLC is a great way to earn volunteer hours. Grades 6-12

Cadyn is 11 years old and in 6th grade. Her favorite book is Don’t Look Back by Jennifer Armentrout. Her favorite singer is Billie Eilish and her favorite TV show is The Vampire Diaries. Cadyn enjoys reading, cheerleading and hanging out with her friends. Her favorite part of TLC is the friendships she has made and if she had to describe TLC to someone she would say it is a fun place where you can be yourself, make friendships, play games and be in charge of things. Her favorite event at the library was the 2019 Haunted House!
Why we love her: Her outgoing personality – she’s not afraid to just be herself, and she accepts others for who they are. She has a very positive attitude and is kind to everyone around her!
Leah is 16 years old and in 10th grade. Her favorite book series is “Gossip Girl” and her favorite Anime series is Kiss Him, Not Me. She enjoys listening to music and eating food. Some of her favorite artists include Halestorm, Billie Eilish and Melanie Martinez. Her favorite apps are Tumblr and Youtube. Leah describes TLC as a fun group for teens to come together and have fun. Her favorite program was the Tim Burton Party, which was her idea and she helped us plan!
Why we love her: Leah has a very creative mind and is always coming up with new ideas and programs that everyone can enjoy. She has a humorous nature and is very passionate about her interests!

TLC’s give young people a VOICE in creating and sustaining programs for teens at the library. TLC members can give input on YA collections, contribute to blogs, help lead/create programming, volunteer at events, organize community service projects, and influence how we serve teens!
BONUS: being involved with a Teen Advisory Board looks GREAT on college applications!
