Library Cards

To get a library card, simply come to the library and tell us you would like to get a card and anyone at the Main Circulation desk can help you! You will need to bring along a photo ID and proof of your current East Moline address.

Library cards are provided free of charge to all residents of our district, as part of your tax-supported library services. Your card gives you borrowing privileges here and at most public libraries in Illinois, access to special online resources, and more!

If you are a resident of Davenport, Iowa, you may also apply for an Interstate Borrower Card at the East Moline Public Library. All you need to do is bring in your current Davenport Public Library Card and photo identification to become an Interstate Borrower. Your Interstate Borrower privileges will grant you access to libraries on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities.

If you live in our service area, you may get a library card free of charge, as part of your tax-supported library service. If you are a non-resident, meaning you live in an unincorporated area, then there is an $80.00 fee for a library card. Your library card allows you to:

-Borrow books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, video games, and board games from us.

-Borrow materials from other libraries across Illinois.

-Use special online collections to find magazine articles and information you can’t get just by searching the web.

-Access East Moline Library services, such as Libby, Kanopy, Explore More Illinois, eRead Illinois, as well as East Moline exclusives such as WiFi Hotspot rentals and Community Passes.

Virtual Library Card Sign Up!

If you live in East Moline or Hampton, you may now apply for a virtual library card! You may contact Mikayla Kitchen at kitchenm@eastmolinelibrary.org and she will verify your information and send your card number via email. A physical copy of the card will be mailed to the address provided.
The number on the library card will allow you to access our digital libraries and other online resources. If you already have a library card, there’s no need to apply for another. You may access our digital library with the number on the back of your card and PIN number. The PIN number is the last four digits of the library card number, unless changed by the patron. Always feel free to give us a call with any questions, we are happy to help!
